Waiting on Wednesday: Panic

Waiting on Wednesday is created by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. It's a weekly meme, every Wednesday of course, where you share about the upcoming books that you are looking forward to read. I missed two..or three (?) WoW's and now I'm back with this one.

Title: Panic
Author: Lauren Oliver
Publication Date: March 04, 2014
Genre: Young Adult, Dystopia

Panic began as so many things do in Carp, a dead-end town of 12,000 people in the middle of nowhere: because it was summer, and there was nothing else to do.

Heather never thought she would compete in Panic, a legendary game played by graduating seniors, where the stakes are high and the payoff is even higher. She’d never thought of herself as fearless, the kind of person who would fight to stand out. But when she finds something, and someone, to fight for, she will discover that she is braver than she ever thought.

Dodge has never been afraid of Panic. His secret will fuel him, and get him all the way through the game, he’s sure of it. But what he doesn't know is that he’s not the only one with a secret. Everyone has something to play for.

For Heather and Dodge, the game will bring new alliances, unexpected revelations, and the possibility of first love for each of them—and the knowledge that sometimes the very things we fear are those we need the most.

Why I'm Waiting:
  1. Lauren Oliver is one of my favorite authors and I love her writing.
  2. The synopsis sounds good and something I would definitely read.
  3. It has a pretty cover.
I admit, the cover was the first one that drew my attention into wanting to read this book. But then after I read the synopsis, I seemed to want it more. The Delirium Trilogy may ended quite lacking for me (honestly the ending of Requiem..) but I did love her Before I Fall book and I'm looking forward to this one very much. Got high hopes for this and I see that this one's a stand-alone..I think.

How about you? What are you waiting for this Wednesday? :)

  1. You are not the first person to mention your disappointment with how the Delirium trilogy ended, which is possibly why I have yet to get on with reading the 2nd 2 books. This new book definitely sounds interesting though. I'm hoping it will be a stand alone with a perfect ending! Pie in the sky right? I know, I'm a dreamer. Here's mine.
