My Thoughts

Marissa Meyer has done it again. Another read from the Lunar Chronicles series, another great journey to this futuristic fairytale retelling and new characters to have a thrilling adventure with. Cress introduces us to a few new characters and we get a glimpse of someone for the next and last book in the quartet, Winter. I have once again loved the third installation and the events during the last few chapters made me want the next book ASAP.

Cress was a lovable main character just like Cinder and Scarlet. She's awkward and oblivious that I find it funny and cute. And one can't help not to fall for Captain Carswell Thorne. In this book, we get a new side of him that we haven't seen in Scarlet. In book two, he's usually the sarcastic and charming one, here, he's still that but there's more of him that I didn't expect to see. The rest of the characters still amaze me with their determination to stop Levana and fight her and the evil Lunars. It's just sad that there were so many traps and some of the characters got harmed and kidnapped. Ever since the first book, I can't seem to stop worrying for them. They've already been through so much that I can't wait for the last book so that there's finally an end to Levana's cruelty.

There was never a dull moment when I read Cress, same goes for the books before it, and I've been enjoying every moment. Except for the sad parts, they weren't enjoyable, they were worth the tears. Very good book, loved it and I'm very much excited for Winter.

Bloodlines Series by Richelle Mead (6 books)

Can't tell you how much I love this series and I think I talked about this a lot again and again before. Silver Shadows will be out this July and the last book will be released next year so..I'm just not ready to bid farewell and to part from Sydney and Adrian's minds. NO. I hold this one so close to my heart and I'm in love with the characters, particularly Sydney Sage. So it's gonna be painful for me, not kidding.

Legend Trilogy by Marie Lu (3 books)

This trilogy ended last year and I've given all three of these books 5 stars. I just loved it and the ending, Champion's ending, held a bittersweet moment but sparked hope for the reader and the imagination. I'm still sad that this has ended. Not over yet.

Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer (4 books)

Cress just got released but I don't think I'll ever get tired reading more about the world and the characters because they're lovable (I meant the good ones) and the fact that it's a gives off a very great spin on fairy tales is another A+ thing.

Blood of Eden Trilogy by Julie Kagawa (3 books)

I'm still not tired of reading about vampires especially ones that Julie Kagawa wrote. Every book seemed to leave in a cliffhanger but the ending of The Eternity Cure hits the spot so much that I can't wait to get my hands on The Forever Song but..I don't want it to be over yet like the rest of the books that'll be ending.

Curse Workers Trilogy by Holly Black (3 books)

This trilogy's underrated that it makes me sad because they're really good. The ending was like Legend's that part of you is happy and satisfied but the other part makes you want much so much. I enjoyed reading this book and was sad that I read it so fast (last year) and there's no more.

The Darkest Minds Trilogy by Alexandra Bracken (3 books)

Newly found trilogy that I am in love with very much. I haven't read Never Fade yet but I'm excited to do so but I'm gonna wait for Fall because last book comes out this Fall 2014. I don't want to rush because this is one of those series I hold so dear to me already.

My Thoughts:

I am so in love with this book and I regret that I didn’t plan on reading this right after I read Cinder. I wasn’t sure at first what to feel for this (before I read it) because it’s from another character’s POV and I’m not used to changing POVs in fantasy books. I’m used to them when I’m reading contemporary but fantasy (or any other genre aside from contemporary)? No. I wanted to remain in Cinder’s head (even with Emperor Kai) and I wasn’t ready to let go just yet. To my utter surprise, Scarlet sure had me wrapped around its pages. The POV? Different POVs which I’m thankful for because there’s enough screen time for the characters and the events circling around them. It’s not also written in a messy way because I’ve encountered books with multiply POVs, and in third person, that ends up having their readers confused with the flow.

I have loved Scarlet as much as I loved Cinder. I love how these heroines can be badass without kicking butts every single time. Sure they have kicked some but their badassery (not really a word) wasn’t determined on their physical strengths. It was more on the way they think and their determination to fight. I wish there was more about Scarlet’s grandma because she seemed to know a lot, especially on what happened to Princess Selene. Cinder and Carswell tag-team was so fun to read especially Carswell Thorne’s personality. And then we have Wolf who, from the start, already caught my interest from the start due to his shyness. In the end, he’s still managed to keep me interested. Wolf and Scarlet though, I love them so much together that right now, I’m wanting more of them!

I’m excited to start Cress but at the same time, I want to reread this and go on Scarlet’s journey again.

My Thoughts

Wow. I had a lot of jaw-dropping moments when I read this book. I got intrigued by this after watching vlog reviews and I’ve read some good feedback from my friends here. The cover’s really pretty and I love the font so I didn’t hesitate to grab a copy from the bookstore and purchase it. Eager to read what’s it about and finish with hopes of having a happy read.

This has been pretty notable and it didn’t disappoint. Cyborg heroine, androids, a great twist of a renown fairy tale with an alien-like villain in a very sci-fi community. The ending left me in an anxious state for what’s gonna happen next.

I love Cinder, the cyborg mechanic and protagonist of the story. I find her determined and actually adorable once she started having feelings for Prince Kai. There’s also quite a bit angst and sadness in this considering it’s a forbidden attraction. I also loathe her stepmother and older stepsister while I love the young stepsister. Some characters are likable, like Iko and Dr. Erland, even Prince Kai. Though I don’t know much about that doctor yet but I’m glad he’s willing to help Cinder. There are heart-tugging scenes too especially during those disease moments with Cinder and Peony. It broke my heart. Some parts I had my guesses and some of them were right but some weren’t. Still, even with my right guesses, the scenarios still had me in surprise. Especially the Princess Selene issue. I definitely want to read more!

I like a book that makes me sad and happy and this one did it. Can’t wait to read Scarlet soon!
