Waiting On Wednesday: Love Letters to the Dead

Waiting on Wednesday is created by Jill @ Breaking the Spine. It’s a weekly meme, every Wednesday where you share about an upcoming book that you are looking forward to read.

Title: Love Letters to the Dead
Author: Ava Dellaira
Publication Date: April 01, 2014
Genre: Young Adult, Contemporary, Realistic Fiction

It begins as an assignment for English class: Write a letter to a dead person. Laurel chooses Kurt Cobain because her sister, May, loved him. And he died young, just like May did. Soon, Laurel has a notebook full of letters to people like Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Amelia Earhart, Heath Ledger, and more; though she never gives a single one of them to her teacher. She writes about starting high school, navigating new friendships, falling in love for the first time, learning to live with her splintering family. And, finally, about the abuse she suffered while May was supposed to be looking out for her. Only then, once Laurel has written down the truth about what happened to herself, can she truly begin to accept what happened to May. And only when Laurel has begun to see her sister as the person she was; lovely and amazing and deeply flawed; can she begin to discover her own path.

Why I'm Waiting

It sounds really interesting and from the synopsis, it's like she's writing a diary or an autobiography except it's a letter...to the dead. Also, there were a lot of authors fell in love with it? I feel like this is gonna be one of those emotional rides that you get for free along with tears while reading. Definitely excited for this.

What are you waiting for this Wednesday? :)

  1. I've heard and seen some good things about this book, so I hope you get to read it soon! :D
I haven't done a Waiting on Wednesday post this week, but I new book I've been interested in is See Me by Wendy Higgins, mainly because I love her characters and romance in The Sweet Trilogy, so that would be my choice this week if I had done one :)

    1. I love her Sweet Trilogy too! And I'm definitely excited to read Sweet Reckoning but at the same time, I'll be sad once it ends. I haven't read the synopsis of that one yet but I'll be sure to definitely check it. Thanks for dropping by, Amanda!!
